Dr. Sarah Forberger

Curriculum vitae

Since 2015 Sarah is working as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology BIPS in the Department of Prevention and Evaluation, Social Epidemiology. Sarah holds a master's degree in political science, computer science and history from the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden) and did her PhD with focus on European health policy implementation through the use of soft law.
From 2005-2015 she worked at the Chair of Addiction Research, Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at the TU Dresden. During this time she was scientific director of the European Graduate School in Addiction Research (ESADD) and scientific manager of numerous EU projects in the field of addiction research.

Her current research focus is on implementation research with a specific focus on system/setting-intervention interaction and the role of contextual factors as well as the application of behavioural insights approaches (nudging) in the field of physical activity promotion and substance use (especially smokeless tobacco). Her research concentrates likewise on evaluation of the effectiveness of political approaches (public policies),
the transfer of knowledge with a special focus on the role of epistemic communities and the use of evidence in the context of political systems.
