Study of premature mortality and avoidable death among migrants from the former Soviet Union in Bremen. Empirical trends and recommendations for the prevention and health promotion

Description

This project investigates the health status and the mortality of migrants from Turkey and the former Soviet Union in Bremen. The focus lies on mortality analyses and the investigation of concepts and indicators such as avoidable mortality and years of potential life lost. A further study question is related to the detailed investigation of causes of death that contribute to premature deaths in this population group. Methodological issues relate to the usability of official data sources for this research. The project is funded through a dissertation grant from the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation.
