Terms of use

  1. The content and design of the IDEFICS/I.Family instruments may not be used in any way for commercial purposes. In general, the use of items from the questionnaires or full instruments for scientific research is allowed, with the corresponding acknowledgement of the IDEFICS/I.Family studies (see III).
  2. Disclosure of the downloaded instruments to other parties is restricted exclusively to institute’s co-workers or members of a project’s consortium with the corresponding reference.
  3. In any publication or report with data being collected utilising the provided instruments it is required to cite the IDEFICS/I.Family studies in an appropriate manner:
    • The corresponding citation is indicated in the download area of each instrument. The citation includes following information:
      [Authors names], [full chapter title]. In:  Bammann et al., Instruments for Health Surveys in Children and Adolescents. Cham: Springer Nature Switzerland, 2019.

      (the format of the citation may vary according to the reference style)
    • When utilising an altered form of an instrument, this must be clearly specified on the publication (“adapted from”) followed by the name of the instrument and the corresponding citation.

      An example:
      Adapted from the “Teenagers’ eating habits questionnaire (TEHQ)” of the IDEFICS/I.Family cohort study (Pala  V,  Reisch  LA,  Lissner  L,  on  behalf  of  the  IDEFICS  and  I.Family  consortia.  Dietary  behaviour  in  children,  adolescents  and  families:  the  Eating Habits  Questionnaire  (EHQ).  In:  Bammann et al., Instruments for Health Surveys in Children and Adolescents. Cham: Springer Nature Switzerland, 2019. <p. xx-yy>.)

    • Only members of the IDEFICS/I.Family consortia are allowed to publish these instruments, after approval by its Steering Committee and always in compliance with the studies’ Publication Rules and with the Consortium Agreement.
