Identification of evidence-based primary prevention measures to promote a healthy diet amongst daycare children in Bremen

Description

The EWISS study (EWISS = ErnährungsWISSen = nutrition knowledge) was launched with the support of the hkk health insurance company with the aim to promote healthy eating among daycare centre children in Bremen. In the EWISS I and EWISS II studies, daycare centre teachers [1] and daycare centre managers [2] were surveyed on the topic to investigate needs and identify problems in this field. The EWISS III study focuses on evidence-based strategy formulation. Building on the preliminary work of EWISS I and EWISS II, EWISS III study aims to answer the question: What specific measures are available for the sustainable promotion of healthy eating among daycare centre children?

The aim of EWISS III study is to develop a measure for the nutritional education of daycare centre children that can be tested in a future model project. In order to achieve this goal, a total of four work steps (work packages) will be carried out:
1) Literature review of international studies
2) Reflection on the results for adaptation in the German context
3) Workshop with relevant local stakeholders
4) Development of a measure to promote healthy eating among daycare centre children
