Community workshop on improving record linkage in Germany for health research.

In collaboration with experts, among others from the BMBF's medical informatics initiative and NUM Codex, representatives of NFDI4Health are preparing a so-called white paper on the possibilities and requirements of record linkage of personal health data for research purposes.

In the Corona pandemic, a spotlight was shone on the often inadequate processing and scientific use of health data in Germany. Improving the scientific use of these very data is at the heart of the efforts of the NFDI4Health initiative, which is funded by the German Research Foundation. For this reason, within the framework of this initiative, we are preparing a so-called white paper on the possibilities and requirements of record linkage of personal health data for research purposes, in collaboration with experts from the BMBF's Medical Informatics Initiative and NUM Codex, among others, with the aim of improving the possibilities for this. In particular, we are concerned with record linkage of epidemiological data, cancer registry data, health insurance data, Sars-CoV-2 notification and sequence data, and clinical data.

To discuss the results of the white paper, NFDI4Health is planning a stakeholder workshop on May 24, 2022, jointly organized by the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology - BIPS and the Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research e. V. (TMF) is organized.
