BIPS distinguished as a family-friendly institute
The Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology - BIPS was granted the certificate "audit berufundfamilie" for its excellent family-friendly human resource policies. The certificate is bestowed by the berufundfamilie gGmbH, a German nonprofit initiative of the Hertie Foundation. It evaluates the balance of work and family life in private companies and public institutions.
"We are delighted to receive recognition for our strong efforts to systematically develop family-oriented offers for our employees" said Cornelia Wiedemeyer, Managing Director at BIPS.
Some measures required to receive the certificate have been common practice at BIPS for many years such as flexible working hours, part-time work or a family-friendly vacation policy. Other activities such as a parent-child office were established as a result of the efforts to receive the certificate. Heike Gerds, equal opportunities officer at BIPS, said: "I am particularly pleased that we planned our future activities on a wide scale. We want to include all employees - the younger ones as well as the more experienced ones. Our goal is to make professional, private, and family life compatible."
