A discussion with Arno Gottschalk and Marc Fucke on the importance of prevention research

At BIPS, we had the opportunity to discuss the institute’s work and the social significance of prevention research with Arno Gottschalk, a member of the State Parliament, and Marc Fucke, chair of the Peterswerder/Steintor SPD chapter and co-founder of Creative Hub Bremen.

A good exchange: (from left) Marc Fucke, Dr. Norman Wirsik, Prof. Dr. Iris Pigeot, Arno Gottschalk, Prof. Dr. Hajo Zeeb und Prof. Dr. Ulrike Haug.

The discussion focused on how scientific findings from health and prevention research can be effectively communicated to society. It became clear that policy frameworks and measures play a central role in translating research findings into concrete improvements for the population.
We are very pleased with the interest shown by policymakers in health research and the joint discussion on how prevention can be strengthened in a sustainable manner. Prevention research, in particular, demonstrates how important the close connection between science, politics, and social practice is.
