BIPS at an International AI Conference in Bremen
At the BIPS booth, researchers from around the world had the opportunity to learn more about our work and mission. We discussed concrete questions in health research: How can AI-based methods be used to derive new insights from complex data to improve prevention and healthcare? What is needed to ensure that AI applications in healthcare are scientifically robust and practically useful? And what role do the discoverability, quality, and standardization of data play in this context (Hashtag#NFDI4Health)?
We are taking several key learnings away from these discussions: The perspectives of different AI disciplines can vary considerably, while at the same time, many of the questions we face are shared across disciplines. That is why we want to keep the conversation going and continue exchanging ideas. Many AI models have now been developed and trained. The next step—particularly in robotics—is to put them to the real-world test under real-world conditions. We are excited to see whats next. At the same time, the pace of technological development is increasingly outpacing the regulatory frameworks needed to keep up. We need to accelerate here as well and make regulatory processes more agile. As systems become increasingly complex, transparency and explainability are also becoming ever more important. We’ll continue to stay engaged on these issues as well.
Now it is time to bring these insights and impulses back into our projects at BIPS—here in Bremen, a hub that combines strong AI expertise with a closely connected research and industry ecosystem.
