Research Data Management
The collection, recording, management, processing and documentation of research data according to uniform standards and at a high level is a prerequisite for scientific work. The Research Data Management unit pools the necessary expertise and makes it available to all departments and divisions of the Institute, as well as to external partners.
The unit develops test routines to ensure high data quality, performs qualified data collection according to common standards, codes medical variables such as ICD diagnoses, develops strategies for storage and processing of research data and implements them using various database systems and analysis tools. The Institute's data resources are managed and prepared for analysis according to the FAIR principles, and requests for data use by external researchers are supported by the operation of various infrastructures and a data transfer point.
In addition to work on ongoing studies, the unit develops programmes, tools, routines and procedures for research data management, systems for conducting computer-assisted interviews and for study management, such as MODYS for controlling and monitoring a survey. These tools are also used outside the Institute, for example in multi-centre and international studies.
